The University of Virginia Sports Medicine team takes care of athletes and non-athletes of all ages and activity levels. Our fellowship trained surgeons treat all types of injuries and conditions of the shoulder, hip and knee. We also are proud to be team physicians for UVA and James Madison University athletics as well as a number of local high school teams.
We are involved in many areas of clinical research to expand the knowledge and available treatments for athletic injuries. Our ongoing current research includes the areas of anterior cruciate ligament tears and reconstruction, knee pain, osteoarthritis of the knee and shoulder, shoulder instability surgery, and knee cartilage surgery.
